Hello there! My name is Shelby Frago and I am a private practice psychotherapist and mixed media artist currently living on Bainbridge Island, WA. I offer a dynamic, soul-centered approach to therapy and to meeting life’s pain and challenges.

From a very early age I learned that life and human relationships can be painful, messy and also exquisitely complicated. These early events taught me the power of resilience, creativity and courageous self-compassion.
I embrace the complexity and nuance of being human and I am here to support others to find their peace and claim their joy in the face of pain and difficulty.

I know from both personal and professional experience that therapy is brave work. I also know that the success of therapy depends on the safety, authenticity and connection one feels with their therapist. My style is deeply intuitive, heart-centered and steeped in tenderness for all you have lived and experienced. The power of empathic connection can be a profound succor for the soul.

Healing and claiming our “best lives” demands both consciousness and a willingness to meet the uncomfortable places within. Trauma, abuse, chronic stress, grief, and betrayal are just a few examples of un-metabolized pain that disconnect us from our true Self. I believe therapy can be so very helpful in transforming pain and in meeting these tender places.

I believe every symptom and painful situation has a soul message. Learning to skillfully lean into these poignant places and listen with curiosity and tenderness to the meaning they hold is the work of effective therapy. Having a safe container in which to do this work can make the journey more palatable and possible. As your therapist, I am dedicated to holding a sacred space for your deepest longings.

My approach is intuitive, eclectic, and steeped in appreciation for the creative resourcefulness you may not even know you have. I strive to understand the uniqueness of you and will attune to your specific needs and goals throughout our work together. I do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. The power of loving connection and acceptance is the healing salve. Whatever you are struggling with, you do not have to do this alone.

I believe deep healing comes to us though connection and the power of being respectfully witnessed and held. I am not afraid of difficult conversations; I have deep respect for the gifts and strengths that live within the unconscious of our shadow and our fears.

I listen deeply and ask the kinds of questions that help you tap into your deepest wisdom. My goal is to support you in a way that encourages self-reliance, motivation and your ability to claim peace for yourself.
